After years in development, the team behind the 737NG Series for X-Plane has announced the long-awaited V2 update, described as a full C-check across both visuals and sound. This major overhaul modernises the aircraft for X-Plane 12 with new modelling, textures, and sound design.
The update features improved 3D modelling with doubled polygon counts for smoother surfaces across the fuselage, engines, and landing gear, while both scimitar and non-winglet wingtips have been completely reworked. New 8K textures are applied to the exterior and interior, creating a sharper and more consistent look throughout the aircraft. Inside, the cabin has been rebuilt with new seats, colours, and materials that better reflect modern airline interiors.

Sound designer Joshua has overhauled the audio using FMOD 2.0, taking advantage of X-Plane 12’s improved sound system. The new setup allows for more detailed layers, greater voice counts, and authentic real-world recordings of the CFM56 engines, giving the 737NG a far more immersive buzzsaw and livelier ambience.
The release will roll out in two stages. Stage 1 will deliver the new visuals and sounds, while Stage 2 will bring an all-new cockpit model and texture set. There’s no confirmed release date, but the team hopes to have Stage 1 ready before the end of the year. The update also sets the foundation for the upcoming 737 MAX series, which will share the same new assets and systems.
Once we have more news, we’ll be sure to share it with you.
