It appears as though many high-quality and feature-rich aircraft are slowly coming together. First, we saw that the Fenix A320 is now in a beta testing phase, whilst PMDG revealed that they have been putting the 737 through its paces in recent weeks. Now, another aircraft developer has thrown their hat into the ‘it is in beta’ ring, with the Fly the Maddog.
Over the past few months, we have seen plenty of footage from the Fly The Maddog by Leonardo Softhouse. We saw a landing and take-off video, whilst we also saw some more generic footage of the plane in action.
Over on the Leonardo Softhouse forums, lead developer, Stefano, confirmed that the aircraft is “under beta testing” and said that “things are coming along nicely.” He stopped short of confirming any kind of timeframe for the plane’s release, but did add that there will be “more [details] to follow.”

Leonardo Softhouse’s Fly the Maddog X for Prepar3D is one of the highest regarded aircraft, thanks to its realistic flight modelling, system depth and an array of features that continued to be improved years after its initial release. From the footage we have seen so far, the aircraft will bring an excellent rendition of the iconic MD-80 to the world of Microsoft Flight Simulator.
As usual., we will follow the progress with anticipation and report back when we hear anything new.
The question is, which of these high-fidelity aircraft will release first?
