There are certain parts of the world that just seem to get ignored when scenery developers are looking for a project. Africa is one of those, but another would easily have to be the Middle East. Try to find a high-quality scenery for major cities around that part of the map, and you’ll only come up with a handful of quality options. Fortunately, Lebor Simulations is currently working on something to fill out the Lebanese scenery in our sims with the development of Beirut / OLBA for X-Plane.
The developers have been pretty quiet about this one, posting occasionally some minor updates on their Facebook page, showing how they’re going about their work in modelling suites. Today though, they’ve shown off a solid preview of how the texturing and modelling has come along in the downtown area of Beirut in their upcoming scenery.
We can see from these images that the developers are taking an immense amount of care with the placement of buildings. Everything is where it should be, and small details such as a tree on a traffic island next to a clock tower, have been included. Buildings even have their own flagpoles, flying the national flag of Lebanon at full mast, and as you would expect in that region of the world, we see tall office builds towering over the yet to be textured mosque.
It’s always refreshing to see a new part of the world being so diligently worked on, and this writer is looking forward to seeing a new part of the world in his sim, available to fly into and out of. If you’re just as excited as I am, check out these previews below. We’ve also included an older image showing the coverage area of this scenery, and just how detailed it will be. If you’re excited about this scenery too, make sure you click through to Lebor Simulations’ Facebook page to see the full range of previews that have been posted throughout the life of this project so far.
