LatinVFR Releases Madrid Barajas LEMD For Prepar3D v4

Following the round of previews that were sent to FSElite, LatinVFR has released their Madrid Barajas Adolfo Suárez (LEMD) airport scenery. The airport is fully modeled and extremely detailed. It comes along with 200 km² of surrounding terrain and includes several Madrid landmarks. It uses PBR surfaces and makes an extensive use of the possibilities offered by SODE, such as animated jetways, controlled lighting and SODE animated PBR rain effects. It also uses a custom mesh for its surrounding, which is important for the feeling and the realism of the scenery since Madrid airport is surrounded by hills that are quite sharp. The runway usage at Madrid can cause trouble to AI traffic, except for users of Prepar3D v4.5 HF2. Others will need to switch AFX files in order to see a correct depiction : depending on weather condition, plane will land on 32L and 32R and take off on 36L and 36R ; or they will land on 18L and 18R and take-off on 14L and 14R.

Madrid Barajas Airport is the main gateway to Spain, and a very important gateway for flights to South America in Europe. It handled nearly 58 million passengers in 2018. The airport has seen major overhaul in the early 2000’s , with the construction of the Terminal 4 , the decommission of one runway and the construction of three other runways. The current 36L-18R is more than 4,400m long, making it one of the longest runway in Europe ; the longest one being only a few nautical miles to the east at Madrid Torrejón Air Base. Several airlines use Madrid as a hub, among them Iberia, Air Europa, while Ryanair has just announced they further expanding their base in Barajas.

LatinVFR Madrid Barajas is available on the LatinVFR website for $28.99 USD. It is to be noted that it is only compatible with Prepar3D v4.4 and above, and that only users of Prepar3D v4.5 HF2 will see a correct AI traffic runway usage without switching AFX file.
