Innsbruck Airport (LOWI), also known as Kranebitten Airport, is the largest international airport in Tyrol in western Austria. The airport is most famous for its difficult circling approaches around terrain. The approach is so complex certain aircraft types are prohibited from operating at the airport. While on approach, the Alps create vicious winds and currents, both of which, the pilot has to deal with.
Many flights in and out of the airport are seasonal, travelers come in from Europe and surrounding countries. The traffic peaks in winter due to the high number of skiers traveling to the region on holiday. Airlines like Jet2.com, TUI, Finnair, British Airways, and many more serve the airport. The terminal has no jetbridges, mobile stairs are used to board and deplane passengers and crew. No airlines currently have a base in Innsbruck, however, Tyrolean Airways Luftfahrzeuge Technik GmbH has an independent technical division on the field.
JustSim has recreated Innsbruck Airport in high detail using high resolution textures and PBR materials on all airport buildings. The area surrounding the airport has also been developed to make the airport feel even more realistic. Car parks around the terminal are full of static vehicles helping the airport seem more alive. Dynamic lighting has been utilized on the various aprons at night.
