Just Flight recently released a new development update on their upcoming Fokker F70/F100 Professional, highlighting continued refinements across systems, flight modelling, audio, and visual details as the project moves closer to release.
Since the last update, further work has been carried out on the AFCAS and FMS, with improvements and partial reworks made to reflect the tightly integrated nature of modern airliners. Just Flight notes that even the smallest coding changes to systems such as LNAV and VNAV often require extensive testing due to their close interaction with the flight model, EFIS displays, and other core systems, particularly on more advanced aircraft like the F70 and F100.
High-altitude performance has been adjusted to better match the real-world behaviour of the Rolls-Royce Tay 620-15 engines, where climb performance, especially on the heavier F100, deteriorates significantly at higher altitudes, making lower cruise levels more realistic in certain scenarios. Landing behaviour has also been revisited, with flare characteristics fine-tuned to reduce excessive float, based on real-world cockpit footage and operational procedures.
Engine behaviour during start-up has also been reviewed, with idle parameters corrected to ensure accurate N1 values. Although this issue had little impact on aircraft performance, it affected audio pitch at idle. The fix, developed in close cooperation between the flight model and sound teams, results in more accurate engine figures and a deeper, low-frequency rumble at idle power.
The team mentioned that a feature-complete sound set has also now been delivered and is undergoing internal testing, with them describing it as one of the most ambitious sound packages produced to date, featuring an exceptionally high number of individual engine sound samples. Just Flight mentioned that the sounds may even surpass the sound set of their Avro Vulcan B Mk. 2, K2, and MRR, and that an in-depth sound overview video is planned to come soon.
Additional visual work includes new custom data plates for each livery, located in the cockpit and populated with livery-specific information. Livery creators will also be able to include configuration files, as seen in the recent 146 Professional and F28 Professional updates, to assign the correct external equipment per aircraft automatically.
While much of the remaining work continues behind the scenes, Just Flight say they are nearing the finish line and remain on track to release the F70/F100 Professional as soon as possible in 2026.
