Just Flight Gives A300B4 Dev Update

Just Flight has shared a new development update for the upcoming Airbus A300B4 Professional for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and 2024, highlighting significant progress on its classic wide-body airliner.

The standout update this time is the near-completion of the aircraft’s exterior texturing, with the in-house artist putting the finishing touches on what Just Flight describes as one of its most ambitious visual projects to date. The aircraft’s exterior textures are all produced at 8K resolution, ensuring crisp detail even during close-up inspections, such as the walkaround mode in MSFS24.

Thousands of individually placed rivets cover the airframe, with particularly dense detailing around structural areas such as the tail section and rear bulkhead. The exterior also features extensive weathering, depicting a true workhorse with visible dirt streaks, rain runoff, airflow grime, and brake dust around the landing gear, matching the worn-in feel already seen in the cockpit previews.

Work remains on the landing gear, wheels, gear bays, and cargo hold interiors, after which the exterior artwork for the A300B4-203 variant will be complete. While the screenshots show an A300B4-103 livery, Just Flight has confirmed that additional variants will be included at release, including freighter versions, with more details to be revealed in future development updates.

Once exterior texturing is wrapped up, focus will shift to liveries. Just Flight says it has narrowed down a wide selection of classic operators from across the world, promising a broad range of high-quality liveries that reflect the Airbus A300B4’s long and varied service history.

On the interior side, the team has offered a first look at the passenger cabin, modelled in an authentic 1980s two-class configuration. The First Class cabin features 24 seats in a 2+2+2 layout, while the Economy Class cabin accommodates 230 passengers in a 2+4+2 layout, narrowing to 2+3+2 toward the rear. The distinctive rear cabin floor incline unique to the A300B4 has also been faithfully reproduced.

Beyond visuals, development continues across the flight model, sounds, lighting and systems. The flight model is said to be progressing well, supported by extensive real-world performance data across multiple Airbus A300B4 variants. Sound development is due to begin shortly.

Lastly, all aircraft systems have now been fully coded, including custom navigation systems such as the Carousel IV-A Inertial Navigation System (CIVA INS) and bespoke autopilot logic. With systems complete, the aircraft is now entering a broader testing phase, where behaviour will be extensively validated against real-world documentation, with particular attention paid to system interaction and autopilot performance.

Just Flight says development is moving very well, with the Airbus A300B4 Professional rapidly approaching a feature-complete state, with more updates expected in 2026.
