Just Flight has announced on their Facebook page they were developing a Diamond DV20 “Katana” light aircraft for Prepar3D. The editor indicated on Twitter the aircraft was still in early stages of development and was not scheduled for release before year end. The Just Flight Diamond DV20 is developed in partnership with Propair Flight, who previously released a Falke SF-25 motor glider.
Not much detail has been shared on the expected features of the Just Flight DV20, however judging by the screenshots it appears the aircraft will use PBR materials.
Originally manufactured in Austria during the 1990’s, the Diamond DV20 is now built as the DA20 in Canada. It was based on the HK36 Dimona, a popular motorglider developed during the 1980’s. The Diamond DV20 is a two-seat aircraft aimed at providing flight schools with a basic inexpensive to operate trainer. While the DA-20 has limited IFR capabilities, it was later further improved into the very popular four-seats DA40.
