You may recall that back in January we brought you some exclusive renders of the Joffer Simulations Fokker 70 project for FSX/P3D (with the aspiration to also come to X-Plane) that was announced a mere 6 months ago now. When this project was announced back in November, it drew a lot of enthusiasm from simmers who felt there was an F70 sized gap in their virtual hangar.
As a result of that enthusiasm, it brings us great sadness to report that Joffer Simulations have announced, via Facebook, an indefinite hiatus from development and consequently cancelled the F70 project.
In the Facebook post, Kristoffer writes that the project became too much for a one-man development team to handle (after the departure of Will and Jake from the team at the beginning of the year), despite having had some help from outside parties during the project. He credits the flight sim community developers who do produce great quality aircraft, saying that “developing a plane is not easy at all, so creds to those who develop planes”.
All hope is not lost though; a follower of the project suggested that the progress model could be on-sold to keep the project alive. Kristoffer replied to this comment suggesting that this would not be out of the question, and any interested parties should get in touch.
Our fingers are crossed that a deal can be done and the project kept alive. If we hear of anything changing hands, we’ll keep you posted.
Thanks to Vinniethegreat in our Discord for the tip-off.
