JARDesign has confirmed that on January 31st 2021, their website was subject to an “attack.” In a statement issued by JARDesign, the servers were down for approximately 5 hours which resulted in X-Plane crashing if you tried to use one of their many plugins.
“On the night of January 31st 2021, our web Site and servers were attacked,” JARDesign said in a statement. During that time services were unavailable whilst the team worked to fix the issues. The issue impacted users trying to use X-Plane plugins, along with the website, forum and download pages. When we spoke to JARDesign, they said that the hosting provider helped to resolve the issue. They confirmed that the hosting provider took the website offline as a blocking mechanism to prevent any serious issues happening.
We asked JARDesign to clarify whether this attack had any implications for user data. They have confirmed that they “have no indication that any data has been stolen. We believe that blocking services was the target of the attack.”
Shortly after the attack, they released this statement.
The JARDesign website is now back online, along with other services meaning products will continue to work as informed.
Should any further information be mentioned or discovered, we’ll let you know.
