Taking to their official Facebook page, Airbus add-on developer JARDesign has decided to share some additional previews of their upcoming Airbus A340-500 aircraft add-on for X-Plane.
Serving as a successor to the previously developed Airbus A340-200 aircraft, the Airbus A340-500 series first flew on February 11th, 2002 and, until the introduction of the Boeing 77-200LR, was considered the world’s longest-range commercial airliner. The aircraft boasts an impressive range of 9’000 nautical miles and, until recently, most famously served as Singapore Airline’s aircraft of choice for their SQ21 & SQ22 non-stop services between New York Newark and Singapore Changi. Although an impressive airliner for sure, few remain in service today, with the only airframes still in active commercial use flying for Azerbaijani national carrier Azerbaijan Airlines.
Having announced the development of the Airbus A340-500 quite some time ago, X-Plane developer JARDesign has shared additional previews and pricing details via their official Facebook page. The previews, which in equal shares focus on showcasing both the exterior and interior of the aircraft, provide an excellent overview of what the add-on is set to include upon release. In addition, the developer also showcases the detailed interior cabin of the aircraft, designed for users to make themselves comfortable when embarking on some of the ultra-long-haul flights that the aircraft type used to operate in real life.
The developer concluded his post by indicating that the aircraft will be priced at $59.00 E.x. VAT and, judging by the phrasing used in the post, that it may become available at some point this summer.
