Update: Checking their FAQ section, it would also appear that there’s a monthly fee of €9 per month. Some of the reward levels give you a certain number of months free as part of the reward.
At FSElite, we’re keen to promote up and coming new ideas to help make the community a better place. Something that needs some attention is online networks to help further connect the community. This is where the team behind ‘Rotate’ has decided to step in. They want to take online flying to the next level and provide an “MMO aviation platform for flight sim and air traffic controller enthusiasts.”
Rotate looks to really enhance online flying by using more modern technology, better voice codec and include much more real-time synchronization with other pilots. For example, every light, control surface and animation will be fed to the servers multiple times per second making for a smooth experience. Further to this, they want to include a CPDLC and a realistic voice transmission service.
At first glace, it would appear that Rotate is just a more modern VATSIM network, but once you scratch the surface, it appears to really bring a lot more to the table. Things such as missions, virtual passengers, and the all important pilot career.
The pilot career will help you with training in phraseology, flight planning, navigation and map reading. It’s a neat idea to help improve pilot skill level when flying online. It will also be easily integrated with virtual airlines.
For air traffic controllers, there will be an advance radar client which will enable you to have electronic flight strips, weather radars, and time-based separation planners.
‘Rotate’ promises to be an ‘all-in-one’ package that will take online flying to the next level.
When will it be available?
Well right now, it’s currently going through a Kickstarter process, which needs your help. There’s a whole host of information and pledge rewards over on their page. In total, they’re looking to raise €100,000 to make this become a reality. Quite a high goal, but has already achieved €6,000 of it. There’s no risk to you as it’s an ‘All of Nothing’ campaign meaning that if the goal isn’t reached, you won’t be charged.
If this is successful, it’s estimated to be available this time next year (November 2018).
If you’re interested, head over to their Kickstarter page and make a pledge.
