We are huge fans of anything creative that the community does to further people’s knowledge of flying or aviation in general. Of course, we all love simming and we enjoy informing you about new ways to sim. But sometimes, it is good to leave the computer chair and find a simulator to hone your skills. In many parts of the world, getting to a simulator is both difficult and expensive. This is why when Sebastian came to us about his idea of creating a Boeing 737 aviation experience in Austin, Texas, got us excited.
FlightX Pilot Experience has been designed to give you an immersive way to experience the feeling of being a commercial airline pilot – without years of training or masses of debt. From the minute you walk in, you will know you’re in an aviation themed environment. Everything from the reception, bar and lounge will be littered with aviation memorabilia and interactive displays. Of course the main exhibit is the exact replica of a real Boeing 737 cockpit. Everything from displays, layouts and chairs will match the real thing.
We have had multiple conversations with Seb and he’s determined to make this Kickstarter a success. He’s got a detailed business plan, he’s done the research and now he needs support to make the dream a reality. The total goal is to reach is $45,000 which will be used for a Flightdeck Solutions Fixed Base 737-800 simulator, a NatVis 220 degree visuals and lease of the facility.
There are plenty of different options for you to contribute all of which come with their own rewards. $50 will secure you a thirty minute brief and flight, $299 includes 5 single hour session and if you’re feeling super generous, $3,500 will reward you and 25 others a day at the sim with food and drinks provided. Of course, there’s plenty of donation and rewards amounts in between what I listed.
There’s also a great contest which will allow you to win the Dream FlightX Package. You and 7 friends will be treated to a day in the sim along with food and drink to boot. If you don’t live in Austin, you’ll be given up to $1000 dollars for flights.
There’s a few ways to enter:
- For every $10 you pledge, it will give you 1 entry. E.g. $100 = 10 entries
- Referring-a-friend who pledges will earn you an additional entry
- For every $100 your friend donates, you get an additional point.
