In a post on their forum, Ubaid – CEO of iniSimulations, the developer behind the A300-600R(F) for X-Plane, has revealed what we can expect in the next update, V1.1.

The A300-600R(F) was released in August of this year, since then, the developer has worked hard to respond to community feedback which has resulted in VR capability being added among other features. One piece of feedback that the team have taken on board comes with regards to performance.

The performance hit that some users have experienced comes from the way the aircraft uses the plugin that drives the simulation called SASL, and how it relates to your frames per second or performance within X-Plane. The plugin takes a particular amount of time to process all the code that runs the aircraft, the longer this takes the more of a performance hit you are likely to see within X-Plane. In a nutshell, the higher the rate of functions that the plugin runs, the lower frames you will see in X-Plane.

The post breaks down the improvements to the way the ‘flight loop’ – the way the aircraft systems are updated and interact with the sim – and the performance increases that users are likely to see. The flight loop impacts current performance differently, depending on the amount of flight data being used for the flight. Shorter flights will have better performance than long haul, as the latter contains more information such as waypoints and flight data. With the new update, the team have re-written code to bypass waypoints that are not needed which have resulted in an FPS increase of up to 25 FPS in test cases.

Since the initial release, iniSimulations has promised the community a free passenger expansion to the aircraft which will also be included in the update to v1.1. The update will also include weather radar functionality, compatibility for Mac users as well as Active Sky for X-Plane, along with various bug fixes.

There has been no mention as to when the update will be ready to users, but the team are in the final stages of development. If you don’t already own the A300-600R(F), you can purchase it directly from the iniSimulations store for £69.99/$91.82/€78.10 Ex.VAT.
