iniBuilds has released version 1.1.0 of its A350 Airliner for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 and 2020, marking a significant milestone in the aircraft’s development. This update introduces the highly anticipated Ultra Long Range (ULR) variant, along with a suite of enhancements aimed at improving realism, performance, and user immersion.

Since launch, the team has used this time to continue to refine the systems, logic, performance and add new features to improve it for the community. Early development centred around addressing core stability issues, with significant work done to resolve WASM crashes affecting key systems such as the displays, autopilot, and flight planning. Alongside these technical improvements, the team also refined the aircraft’s 3D modelling and soundscape, delivering more realistic visuals and balanced audio throughout various phases of flight.

The updates have continued with deeper system overhauls, including a comprehensive revamp of the ECAM systems featuring detailed failure states and input from real-world engineers. Improvements to the Flight Management System (FMS) have enhanced data entry and sequencing, while new features such as step climb logic, ETP, CDA, ETT, and CMS further bolster the aircraft’s long-haul capabilities. More recently, the fly-by-wire system received enhancements, including an Auto De-Rotation feature to assist with landings, alongside an updated GPS jamming system and visual improvements like cockpit window condensation effects. The team says development will continue, with a strong focus on refining the experience based on ongoing community feedback.

Performance and WASM Issues

One of the more notable stability improvements in this update addresses a persistent WASM crash related to the aircraft’s combus system—a component responsible for passing information between different systems, such as the OIS and FMS. iniBuilds has removed the combus entirely, opting instead for direct data reads from source files. This change significantly improves overall stability and should prevent further occurrences of this particular WASM crash.

Career Mode, New EFB Events, Evac Slides, and Much More

The update also introduces full Career Mode support for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, available exclusively via the MS Marketplace. In addition, a range of immersive, event-driven scenarios has been added via the EFB. These include medical emergencies like allergic reactions or a sick passenger, handling unruly passengers restrained by cabin crew, and lavatory smoke incidents, which may result in anything from a minor false alarm to the need for more serious emergency action. Each scenario triggers corresponding ECAM messages, sound effects, and cabin crew interactions to further enhance immersion.

A highly requested feature has made its way into the iniBuilds A350 Airliner: fully functional emergency evacuation slides. First introduced with the team’s A300-600, the slides are directly tied to the aircraft’s door arming logic. Once the doors are armed, triggering an evacuation will deploy the slides just as it would in real-world operations. This not only adds a layer of visual detail but also reinforces the sense of procedural realism, particularly for those simmers looking to fully simulate emergency scenarios.

The cockpit sees several key improvements in this update. The side stick models have been rebuilt with more accurate geometry and textures, enhancing visual fidelity. The default pilot camera has also been adjusted to better align with the eye reference indicator, offering a more realistic viewpoint. Additionally, a new cockpit storm light has been added, providing bright floodlighting for better visibility during dark or challenging conditions.

Ultra Long Range

This update also brings with it the ULR variant of the A350-900. The promised update is here and comes with complete fuel logic, systems and more. All part of the package and also a SimBrief profile is available.

Coming Soon – HUD

A fully modelled 3D HUD is coming soon, featuring dynamic projection, adjustable declutter, and a realistic collimated view. It also includes accurate brightness control and a unique feature where the symbology shifts during crosswind landings, improving usability in challenging conditions.
