iniBuilds has a bit of a history with A380 development. Many years ago, they began the journey of creating one in X-Plane, before then pivoting towards other Airbus projects. Most recently, iniBuilds commented on developing the A380 when we learned of the A350 back in 2023. However, it seems development work on the A380 is now back at the forefront for the team with their recent stories on social media.
The team teased two images on social media, saying that they were gathering “data, data, data” as part of a research day. The next image is of the MCDU, with INIA380 in the flight number, on what is quite clearly an A380 aircraft. Whilst it’s not an outright announcement that they are back working on the project, it’s fairly obvious this is what the team is hinting at.
As with any aircraft project, the process can be long, with many things putting up roadblocks on progress. Whilst iniBuilds has expressed a desire to make an A380 for many years, now seems as good a time as any for them to use their experience to create one for flight simmers.

But Why?
Considering there is a freeware A380 by FlyByWire Simulations already in existence, many will question why we need another one from iniBuilds. Whilst we are not privy to the real answer, the first major reason that springs to mind is Xbox users. FlyByWire has stated multiple times that there is no plan to bring it to Marketplace for Xbox users, so this would be an opportunity for those simmers to experience the A380.
There could be other reasons too, as to why iniBuilds feels confident in creating the A380 for flight simulation. Regardless, it’s always a benefit to the community to have the freedom of choice.
