iniBuilds has released some images on their Instagram story that strongly suggest the company is producing a Lockheed Tristar for Microsoft Flight Simulator.
Although we only have two images to work with, online sleuths quickly deduced that the images depicted HZ-AHP, a Lockheed L-1011Tristar which is now permanently housed at the Royal Saudi Air Force Museum near Riyadh. Having independently verified images of HZ-AHP and the surrounding area, we are able to say with a high degree of confidence that the image depicted in iniBuilds’ social media is indeed the L-1011.
Although no details were shared regarding which simulator(s) the retro airliner will be coming to, it would be safe to assume, given iniBuilds’ involvement with the development of several first-party aircraft for MSFS 2024 that the Tristar will be coming to this platform. Other than that, there is no confirmed information in the social media posts or indeed across iniBuilds’ other feeds.
The L-1011 was produced by American company Lockheed as far back as 1968, with 250 units being built during its production run. The airliner was primarily flown during its operational years by Northrop Gruman, British Airways, Delta Airlines and the now-defunct Eastern Airlines.
No Tristars are in active commercial passenger service these days, although a handful are believed to still be technically airworthy. As recently as 2019, Northrop Gruman operated a modified L-1011 dubbed Stargazer as an orbital rocket launch platform, making it the last known active Tristar.
FSElite will continue to bring the latest updates regarding iniBuilds’ announcement when they become available.
