iniBuilds has provided its most detailed look yet at the long-awaited Airbus A380 for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, revealing new information on the aircraft’s systems, flight modelling, sound design, cockpit development, and cabin experience. The update also reaffirmed the team’s commitment to supporting its existing airliner lineup, including the A350, A340, and recently released TriStar.
Before diving into the A380, iniBuilds outlined a series of recent improvements across its current fleet. Both the A340 and A350 have continued to receive updates focused on bug fixes, feature enhancements, and WASM optimisation work, while the TriStar has gained numerous new features since release, including fuel jettison, progressive loading, time compression, brake temperature simulation, and expanded flight planning functionality.
A New Generation of EFB Technology
One of the major highlights of the update is the introduction of a redesigned Electronic Flight Bag. According to iniBuilds, the A380 will feature a new-generation EFB that separates aircraft-specific operational tools from external applications, creating a cleaner workflow for pilots.



The EFB will include an integrated weight and balance system, SimBrief integration, Navigraph support, and various operational tools designed to replicate modern airline procedures.
Flight Model Built Around MSFS 2024 Technology
Given the unique challenges of simulating the world’s largest passenger aircraft, iniBuilds says the A380 has been developed using several new Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 technologies.
This includes Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) calculations across the wings and the use of the simulator’s new fuselage object system, allowing airflow to interact with the aircraft’s true physical shape. The team says this should result in more realistic handling characteristics, particularly in turbulent weather and crosswind conditions.


The aircraft will also feature distinct flight characteristics between the Rolls-Royce Trent 900 and Engine Alliance GP7200 variants, with differences in thrust response and overall performance. Ground handling has received particular attention, and development has benefited from feedback provided by active A380 pilots operating the aircraft today.
Comprehensive Systems Simulation
As expected from a modern airliner simulation, systems development appears to be one of the largest areas of focus.
iniBuilds says the aircraft will feature a highly detailed Flight Management and Guidance System, complete ECAM functionality, advanced fly-by-wire logic, hydraulic and electrical systems, realistic fuel management, and detailed engine modelling for both engine variants.




The A380 will also support Navigraph OANS integration, along with Hoppie and SayIntentions connectivity for CPDLC and ACARS-style communications. Persistent aircraft states are included, allowing fuel quantities, wear-and-tear items, and other operational data to be carried between flights on a per-livery basis.
Failure simulation is also set to play a significant role, with scenarios ranging from engine failures and bird strikes through to GPS jamming events and other abnormal operations.
Unique Cabin Management Features
One of the more unusual aspects revealed in the update relates to cabin systems.
Given the A380’s extensive passenger facilities, including onboard shower suites, pilots will need to actively manage water distribution throughout the aircraft using the Flight Attendant Panel. Improper management could lead to depleted water tanks and unavailable lavatories in certain cabin zones, replicating real-world operational considerations faced by A380 operators.





The aircraft is being developed in an Emirates-style four-class configuration and will feature detailed recreations of the carrier’s iconic onboard lounge, shower spas, premium cabin areas, star ceiling effects, and other distinctive interior features.
Advanced Audio and Visual Development
Sound development has focused heavily on recreating the scale and atmosphere of the superjumbo. The aircraft will feature dynamic environmental audio, detailed cockpit interaction sounds, positional audio throughout the cabin, and dedicated ambience for areas such as the onboard lounge.
On the visual side, iniBuilds showcased progress on both the cockpit and cabin. The development team highlighted improvements in ambient occlusion techniques, advanced material work, and performance-focused optimisation methods designed to maintain visual quality without compromising frame rates.










Meanwhile, the exterior model continues to progress, with support for both engine variants, authentic lighting systems, animated doors, steerable centre landing gear assemblies, tyre wear simulation, and various immersion-focused ground handling features.

While no release date was provided, iniBuilds says future updates will focus on the aircraft’s exterior model, liveries, optimisation work, and additional immersion systems. The team also released the first official trailer for the aircraft alongside the development update, offering the community its first substantial look at the A380 in motion.
With development now entering a more public phase, the wait for one of Microsoft Flight Simulator’s most anticipated aircraft appears to be entering its final stretch.
