iniBuilds Shares New TriStar Dev Update

iniBuilds has recently shared a new development update on their upcoming Lockheed L-1011-500 TriStar Airliner for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024.

The team reports that significant work has been completed on the flight model, with particular attention given to the TriStar’s distinctive handling characteristics and its three Rolls-Royce RB211 engines. Direct Lift Control (DLC) is fully simulated, allowing for precise glide path adjustments on approach, a key feature of the real aircraft.

Systems depth remains a major focus, with the Automatic Flight Control System including realistic autopilot behaviour and supporting full CAT IIIB autoland capability, accurate flare logic, de-rotation behaviour, and rollout control. Detailed hydraulic, electrical, fuel, and environmental systems will also be modelled. A fully interactive Flight Engineer panel is also planned, though sim pilots can opt for automated assistance if preferred.

Navigation flexibility is another highlight; users will be able to choose between the classic INS-style operation or a more modern GPS-assisted workflow via a custom “Paper Flight Bag” interface, a vintage-inspired alternative to the modern EFB, giving both purists and convenience-focused flyers options that suit their style. iniBuilds is also implementing the ability to import routes created via SimBrief or through the simulator’s own EFB directly into the INS.

Visually, the TriStar is shaping up with detailed cockpit textures, fully adjustable integral panel backlighting, instrument illumination, pedestal flood lighting, dedicated Flight Engineer station lighting, and overhead flood lights. Exterior dynamic lighting that interacts dynamically with fog, cloud density, precipitation, and reflective surfaces. Wing flex, and a range of high-quality ‘3D decal’ liveries are planned for release, including Delta, British Airways, Air Transat, LTU, Pan Am and United and many others.

No release date has been confirmed as of yet, but iniBuilds says development is progressing steadily, with one more development update prior to launch.

Stay tuned to FSElite for the latest updates.
