iniBuilds has released El Hierro Airport (GCHI) for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024.
El Hierro Airport is located on the northeastern coast of the Canary Island of the same name. Despite being one of the smaller airports in the Canary Islands, it sees regular passenger services to both Tenerife and Gran Canaria, primarily operated by Binter Canarias.
Its location also makes El Hierro an interesting airport to fly into. The airport sits directly on the coastline, with the Atlantic Ocean on one side and the island’s mountainous terrain on the other. For its rendition of El Hierro, iniBuilds has recreated the airport terminal, including an interior, alongside the various buildings and infrastructure found around the airport.

Custom ground textures have been used throughout, covering the runway, apron, roads and pathways. The developer has also included custom taxiway signage, dynamic lighting and a number of bespoke buildings beyond the immediate airport boundary to better represent the surrounding area.
According to iniBuilds, the scenery has been built using the latest Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 SDK features, with optimised textures also being used to help with performance.
Whilst El Hierro isn’t likely to be an airport you spend hours flying to, it does add another option for those who enjoy flying shorter sectors around the Canary Islands. Flights from Tenerife North typically take around 40 minutes, whilst Gran Canaria is roughly an hour away.
