iniBuilds has shared a new development update for their upcoming F406 Caravan II, which was first announced several weeks ago. The twin-engine utility aircraft is being developed for Microsoft Flight Simulator with a focus on operational versatility, system depth, and mission realism. The product is now nearing release and will be available soon via the iniBuilds Store for £19.99 (plus VAT).
The aircraft has been developed following direct access to a real-world example operated by RVL Group in the UK. iniBuilds visited East Midlands Airport multiple times to gather 3D scan data, interview pilots, and document operational procedures. In appreciation of the access provided, iniBuilds made a £1,000 donation to the West Midlands Air Ambulance.
Several variants are included, such as passenger, cargo, surveillance, coastguard, and environmental response configurations. Each variant comes with its own 3D model and system logic. Notable features include a fully integrated camera system with gyroscopic stabilisation, a maritime surveillance radar, dynamic payload loading, and photo capture functionality. Mission-specific details, such as animated cargo loading and environmental sensors, are also represented.

Inside the cockpit, the aircraft features swappable avionics including support for the GTN 650 (Asobo, PMS, and TDS), a functional EFB with payload control and Navigraph integration, and a custom autopilot designed for STOL operations. Circuit breakers are modeled and interactive, and aircraft lighting is fully controllable.
The sound package for the F406 was created by Echo 19 Audio using real recordings from the actual aircraft. This includes turbine startup sequences, propeller transitions, cockpit switches, and system sounds. These audio elements have been integrated to respond dynamically based on in-sim actions and engine state. The flight model has been tuned based on pilot feedback and performance documentation, with STOL capability and mission performance considered a priority.
A release date has not been confirmed at this stage. That said, a welcome video has been produced, with an overview provided by Cameron so you get full insight into the plane’s technical offering.
