During iniBuilds’ #FSExpoFriday presentation, we saw a single screenshot during one of the company’s trailers which has raised some eyebrows, especially after the company’s social media team drew attention to it themselves over on their Discord server.
The screenshot, which comes from the A350 ULR update trailer, depicts a Malaysian Airlines A350 taking off into the evening in the background. However more important is what’s in the foreground, the tail of a Lufthansa Aircraft, registration D-AIGU.
It didn’t take long for simmers to do some googling and realise that D-AIGU is one of the German flag carrier’s A340-300 aircraft, which has lead many to believe the company are developing the aircraft.
Although nothing has been officially confirmed, the fact iniBuilds appear to be leaning into these rumours is a very strong indication that an A340-300 is in the works. The image’s file name is “AIGU-Prev”, lending confirmation to the idea that the focus of the image is the A340 and not the A350 in the background.
The news comes amid yesterday’s huge announcement that Aerosoft are partnering with ToLiss to develop an A340 of their own, although this one will be the longer -600 variant. The previews we’ve seen of that aircraft indicate progress is coming along very nicely, and Aerosoft CEO Winfried Diekmann said on stage yesterday that a release was being targeted for this year. For a full recap of that announcement, see our article here.
Stay tuned to our website and socials over the weekend as we continue to bring you the latest news, updates and announcements coming out of FSExpo in Providence, RI.
