iniBuilds has officially unveiled the Reims-Cessna F406 Caravan II, a twin-engine utility aircraft developed for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. Drawing from extensive real-world references, including pilot input and 3D scanning of a real RVL Group-operated aircraft based at East Midlands Airport, iniBuilds aims to deliver a highly detailed and functionally rich experience for sim pilots.
The F406 Caravan II is known for its multi-mission capability, and iniBuilds has leaned into that versatility with five distinct variants included in the package: Passenger, Cargo, Surveillance, Coastguard, and Spray. Each version will offer bespoke liveries, interior layouts, and tailored mission equipment such as SLAR ship detection for the Coastguard version, and an operable gyro-stabilised camera for surveillance tasks.
In terms of avionics and systems, the aircraft features full GTN 650 support with compatibility for Asobo, PMS, and TDS units. A custom-coded autopilot designed for single-pilot operations has also been implemented. The onboard EFB will offer Navigraph chart support with QR code and web-based login, dynamic payload configuration, and a number of interactive features, including door and window animations. A notable addition is the real-time passenger and cargo loading functionality, which adjusts the aircraft’s payload dynamically based on user input.

Mike Staden from iniBuilds added a few words on the production of the plane. “My name is Mike Standen, I am Head of Production here at iniBuilds. Before joining the company, I was a full-time commercial pilot. One of the aircraft I flew early in my career was the F406 Caravan II for a company called RVL Group, based at East Midlands airport in the UK. It wasn’t an average airline, they operate lots of government and private sector surveillance contracts as well as carrying out ad hoc cargo and passenger operations across the UK and Europe. I was excited to bring the variety and unique challenges of flying coastguard, aerial photography, and spray operations, amongst other tasks, to MSFS.”
Visually, the aircraft benefits from high-fidelity 3D scanning, detailed animations, and numerous immersive touches such as working circuit breakers, animated surveillance camera systems, and rotatable cockpit lighting stalks. iniBuilds has also confirmed compatibility with MSFS 2024’s upcoming Career Mode, allowing simmers to fly passenger, VIP, or freight missions with the F406.
While no firm release date has been provided, iniBuilds states the aircraft is due “very soon” for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024.
Sorry for the delay on this one, our FSExpo prep got us all a bit busy!
