After a lengthy development period, iniBuilds has released its A380 Airliner for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, bringing the world’s largest passenger aircraft to the simulator with both Rolls-Royce and Engine Alliance powerplants.
The A380 has been one of iniBuilds’ most anticipated aircraft projects, with the finished product putting a particular focus on systems, flight dynamics and the differences between individual aircraft configurations.
Both the Rolls-Royce Trent 900 and Engine Alliance GP7200 are included, with each featuring its own external model, sounds, start-up and shutdown behaviour, spool characteristics and thrust response. Users can also select between early and modern MSN configurations, changing elements of the FMS, flight guidance, protections and operating procedures.

Systems modelling extends to persistent aircraft states, allowing fuel levels, switch positions and various system conditions to carry between simulator sessions. Potable water and waste systems are also simulated, alongside individual fuel tank temperatures, body gear steering and a configurable failure system.
Several A380-specific features have also been recreated. Brake to Vacate provides predicted runway exit performance, whilst the Vertical Situation Display can be used for terrain and descent planning. iniBuilds has also modelled the aircraft’s fly-by-wire logic, including dedicated rotation laws and refined PRIM behaviour.
The accompanying EFB and Onboard Information Terminal provide much of the aircraft management functionality. An integrated take-off calculator can determine V-speeds, FLEX temperatures and stopping margins based on aircraft weight, runway conditions and weather, including support for intersection departures.
Visually, iniBuilds has modelled the A380’s distinctive landing gear arrangement, individual wing control surfaces and separate engine geometry for both engine variants. Dynamic wing flex reacts to weight, turbulence and aerodynamic loads, whilst Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024’s walkaround functionality is used for interactive servicing panels, ground power connections and other exterior areas.
A range of effects is included too, from water spray, engine vortices and heat blur through to contrails and fuel jettison. Abnormal events can also produce their own effects, including engine fires, smoke and tail-strike sparks. GSX integration is included for those wanting additional ground handling functionality.
