After months of anticipation, iniBuilds has officially released the Airbus A340 Airliner for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. This marks the debut of the developer’s first four-engine Airbus in the sim, bringing the long-haul classic into the modern MSFS environment.
Alongside the passenger model, also included is a passenger-to-freighter configuration and a dedicated ACJ corporate variant, expanding the aircraft’s operational flexibility across different mission types. iniBuilds has built the A340 natively for MSFS 2024, ensuring full integration with the new simulator’s enhanced aerodynamics, ground handling, and systems modelling.
iniBuilds has placed particular focus on the Airbus A340’s reputation as an underpowered but reliable long-haul performer, with fully modelled CFM56-4C engine systems that include EGT, fuel flow, oil pressure, and FADEC logic, so expect to experience long, sluggish climbs under heavy loads, sometimes even taking 40 minutes to reach cruise altitude, just like the real aircraft. iniBuilds has also bypassed the default simulator logic to deliver authentic Airbus behaviour, including slats-only settings.
Leveraging MSFS 2024’s new fuselage object modelling, the aircraft reacts more realistically to drag, crosswinds, and engine placement. Taxi and nose-wheel steering use the new ground physics engine, meaning over-aggressive turns can result in skids or loss of traction.
The visual direction reflects a 20-plus-year-old aircraft in active service, rather than a factory-fresh jet featuring hydraulic stains, panel wear, and maintenance patches. Dynamic wear is also included: tyres, brakes, and other components degrade over time and can be reset through the onboard EFB. For customisation, simmers will be able to toggle details such as SATCOM antennas, brake fans, and ice detection probes to match specific airline configurations.
