Tired of the hassle of deciding whether you can fit in a 6+ hour flight on a weekend, hoping that life doesn’t get in the way and force an early end to an otherwise lengthy cross-oceanic flight? Infinite Flight may have the answer.
Infinite Flight have announced AutoPilot+ which allows users to exit out to the sim’s main menu while your flight carries on behind-the-scenes (as long as some basic criteria are met). AutoPilot+ stores your flight on its servers while you do whatever needs to get done. When you’re ready to resume, you can select “CONTINUE FLIGHT” in a mode selection on the main menu. Additionally, the flight will pause automatically when you’re around 30 minutes from your Estimated Time Enroute (ETE) which will allow you to return when it’s most convenient (as long as it’s within 48 hours).
There are some criteria that have to be met if you want a smooth experience. The criteria were listed by Infinite Flight and we’ve included them below:
- Aircraft Altitude must be at least 28,000 feet MSL for jets, and 7,000 feet MSL for props
- Aircraft must be in level flight (not climbing or descending)
- A flight plan must be filed
- Autopilot and LNAV must be engaged
- Aircraft must be on the flight plan track
- ETE to destination must be greater than 30 minutes

Best of all, you can actually start another flight while your current flight is ongoing. How great would it be to fly across the ocean and do a short hop from New York to Boston in the meantime? Finally, a map is made available showing some key information such as your airplane’s location, the filed route, the time, and weather conditions. The feature will be made available with Infinite Flight 25.1, which is still pending final release. Stay tuned for more updates on the release of the newest version of Infinite Flight, here at FSElite.
