Infinite Flight has finally released its highly anticipated 26.1 update, introducing a host of changes the improve graphics and core systems.
Reaching this point has been no small feat, with 26.1 representing one of the most significant updates in Infinite Flight’s history. Built on years of foundational work and shaped by a multi-month beta test involving thousands of community pilots, the update’s signature feature is a brand-new rendering system. The new engine leverages photometric lighting units and real-time shadows, delivering improved visual consistency and realism across various environmental conditions. Enhanced atmosphere and cloud rendering also result in more natural-looking skies, while laying the groundwork for more advanced weather systems in the future.

Beyond the visual upgrades, Infinite Flight 26.1 marks a new era in Infinite Flight’s aircraft development process. The Piper PA-28 Archer II debuts as the first aircraft developed through this new process, with additional modeling partners enabling a more scalable process that does not comprise quality. Similarly, the team introduced the Airbus A330-200 as one of the first aircraft to benefit from a reimagined content pipeline that prioritizes efficiency and faster turnarounds for future updates. These two changes will allow Infinite Flight to ensure consistency across aircraft as the platform continues to evolve.

The end-to-end flying experience also received a major upgrade in Infinite Flight 26.1. A new Flight Debrief screen provides detailed post-flight insights, including landing performance, distance flown, and fuel usage. For the pre-flight planning experience, the introduction of drag-and drop flight plan waypoints, improved procedure selection, and enhanced map interactions will make flight planning more intuitive. Multiplayer pilots will also see noticeable improvements to the Expert Server, including enforcement of taxiway speed limits and reduced runway incursions false positives. In-app ATC schedules have also been added, eliminating the need to visit the Infinite Flight website. Lastly, pilots will see 211 new airports, along with 210 airports receiving 3D scenery.

Overall, Infinite Flight’s 26.1 release is an exciting next step for the ever-evolving mobile simulator. The new update requires an Apple device with iOS/iPadOS 17.0 or later, or an Android device with Android 10 or later. To read the full change log, visit Infinite Flight’s website.
