After months of development plagued by unforeseen setbacks, Impulse Simulations has released Townsville Landmarks V2 for MSFS 2020 and 2024. Located in northeastern Queensland, Australia, Townsville is known for its proximity to the Great Barrier Reef and as home to one of Australia’s largest army barracks, playing a vital role in the country’s defense.

Impulse Simulations’ Townsville Landmarks V2 offers a complete overhaul of the original version of the scenery for MSFS 2020. Following that release, the developer hinted at a forthcoming update: “As a company dedicated to delivering high-quality add-ons for Microsoft Flight Simulator, we hold ourselves to a high standard. Unfortunately, we recognize that the initial release of Townsville Landmarks V1 didn’t fully meet the expectations we set for ourselves or our users. It felt rushed and lacked the polish that defines our work.”
Impulse Simulations seems to have taken that attitude of improvement to heart for Townsville Landmarks V2. According to the developer, Townsville Landmarks V2 was inspired by community feedback and greatly improves the area compared with what is offered by Townsville Landmarks V1 and the Australia World Update VII. Townsville Landmarks V2 includes new, custom designed landmarks and buildings, enhanced immersion with animated vehicles, improved night lighting, and optimized performance. Custom-placed 3D buildings include The Ville Resort-Casino and Ardo Hotel, Queensland Country Bank Stadium, and the Strand Pier, among some 150 others.
