Immersive Audio has released the MaddogX Sound Immersion NG for Microsoft Flight Simulator, bringing a significant audio upgrade to the Leonardo MD-80. Built from the ground up over eight months, the package aims to capture the authentic sound profile of the aircraft’s distinctive JT8D engines and detailed cockpit environment.
The sound set is based on high-resolution 48 kHz field recordings and includes over 230 custom audio elements. These cover every stage of the aircraft’s operation, from the rumble of taxi and landing rolls to the mechanical clunks of gear movement and the subtle ambient noises within the cockpit. Small touches, such as wind-leak whistles from the first officer’s window and the hum of avionics fans, add to the immersion. Users can also adjust various audio levels directly via the aircraft’s overhead panel.

The team spent over 8 months making this product, ensuring that every sound has been captured to replicate the JT8D engines and more.
You can buy it from OrbxDirect for $24.80 AUD (excluding taxes).
