iFly recently took to the Flight1 Discord to address the extended silence regarding the upcoming SP1 release for its Boeing 737 MAX. The update, which was announced mid-2025, has finally progressed into the final stages of testing.
When details for SP1 were first unveiled back in August 2025, iFly outlined an extensive list of upgrades and improvements for the 737 MAX. The headlining feature is a brand-new EFB (electronic flight bag) tablet that will replace the existing system, while adding CPDLC integration, cabin announcements, a new 737 Max 8-200 variant, and various modeling upgrades. Since then, the team has shared photo previews of the new EFB and exterior enhancements in December 2025.

Fast forward to today, iFly has reaffirmed that the project is very much alive and officially feature-complete. This means that beta testers are now focused on stress-testing the new update to ensure no new bugs are introduced. According to the development team, the testing phase is “very near completion,” with the finals checks underway prior to release.
While no official release date was shared, this latest update is encouraging news for those that frequently fly Boeing’s next-generation narrow-body jet. The progress of SP1 is also significant because it clears the path for iFly’s next major project, the Boeing 737 MAX 9, which sits next on the developer’s project roadmap following the service pack’s release.
FSElite will continue to monitor this story and share any additional updates.
