In a post on their website, scenery developer iBlueYonder Studio confirmed that version 2.0 of Portland International Airport (KPDX) for Microsoft Flight Simulator is under development. Located in Portland, Oregon in the Pacific Northwest region of the U.S., the real PDX is undergoing a multi-year project aimed at transforming the airport into a modern and enjoyable experience for travelers. The $2.0 billion renovation project dubbed ‘PDXNext’ is expected to be completed in 2025 and features new and renovated concourses as well as an expanded main terminal.

Originally released in partnership with FlightBeam in 2020, KPDX was iBlueYonder’s founder and Portland resident, Bill Womack’s, first scenery for Microsoft Flight Simulator. Now, Womack revealed that thanks to the massive updates at the real-world PDX, it’s time for a reboot of the iconic airport.
In the post, Womack says: “KPDX has undergone extensive real-world rebuilding and renovation in recent years. The time has come to create a simulated version worthy of this gorgeous and ambitious project. KPDX Next for MSFS builds on the popular original version, and is packed with new features and improvements. Best of all, you’ll be able to fly it later this year, well in advance of the projected late 2025 completion of the real thing!“
