Our friends at HeliSimmer.com have shared a post on how you can possibly resolve long initial loading times when starting up Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. The thin client has been prominently featured by Microsoft as a key selling point for the new simulator as it is designed to only load the stuff you need, therefore making loading times faster. Some users found this hasn’t been the case and still found the initial loading could take up to 10-15 minutes.
In the post, a possible solution is fairly simple and could take you less than a minute to apply. Once applied, it could see you in the main menu of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 within just a few minutes.
How to Possibly Fix Long Initial Loading Times
The way to fix it could possibly be simply having to sync the time on your Windows machine. HeliSimmer.com found this through a forum post on the official website and upon investigation, this is also a solution suggested by the official support portal.
As per the support portal, this is how you re-sync the clock on your Windows machine:
- Press the Start button on the taskbar, type settings, and select Settings.
- Select Date & Time and toggle the “Set time automatically setting” and “Set time zone automatically” to ON.
- Click on Synchronize your clock to synchronize your system’s clock with an Internet time server.
- Then click Region, and double-check that your country or region is correctly set up (for example if you live in Canada, make sure that the region didn’t switch to USA or vice-versa)
The Impact?
Sergio at HeliSimmer.com said that he saw his 14-minute loading time reduced to 3 minutes. That’s a significant difference for such a simple fix.
