During Captain’s Corner at FlightSimExpo, Honeycomb Aeronautical has announced ‘The Flight Sim Academy’. This new initiative has been designed by Honeycomb as a way to help overcome the pilot shortage the world will face in the coming years.
The new academy will first open in San Diego during Q4 of this year and will be made up of 16 simulators. Those who are learning to fly as a student pilot or at flight schools can simply go online and book a session free of charge. This is part of a major corporation with Crown Air Aviation.
The plan is to open this up to other major metropolitan areas in the future. Once the proof of concept has been done, it will come to the 30 biggest cities in the US. This should give “almost every kid in America access to a sim to choose a career in aviation.” Honeycomb will be donating hardware to these academies and it will be run as a non-profit.
