Heatblur Simulations has announced plans to bring their F-4E Phantom II to Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. This will be a version of their DCS World aircraft that recently won Best DCS Addon at the 2025 Flight Sim Awards.
According to Heatblur’s announcement, the Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 version will focus on recreating the core flying aspects of the Phantom, with custom fully flight dynamics. Heatblur also said that their flight model has been developed over several years and verified by actual F-4 pilots and Weapons Systems Officers. The MSFS version will include features from their DCS version, including an interactive crew chief, quality of life improvements, and an interactive manual.

Heatblur described their simulation approach as a “components based simulation framework” where the aircraft is modeled as a system of thousands of individual components. Each component from instrument needles to control surfaces influences the aircraft’s state and includes wear characteristics. Systems like electrical power distribution and hydraulics are simulated throughout the aircraft, with Heatblur noting that “things happen naturally, influenced by each other, and are not scripted.” Heatblur will also incorporate their JESTER AI system in the MSFS version, providing a virtual backseater to accompany pilots during flights.

The F-4 Phantom II itself stands as one of military aviation’s most significant aircraft—a two-seat, twin-engine supersonic jet that began life with the United States Navy before being adopted by the Marine Corps and Air Force. Between 1958 and 1981, approximately 5,200 Phantoms were produced, serving with military forces across 12 countries, with some remaining operational today.
No release date or pricing information was provided in the announcement. Heatblur stated they will share additional information as development progresses.
