There’s no denying that GSX has brought a lot of immersive enhancements to our simulators over the last ten years. Luggage and cargo loading, catering vehicles, refuelling services and animated passenger jetways to name a few. For its 10th anniversary, FSDreamTeam has brought yet another new feature to the popular utility.
Walk-In gates are parking spots with no jetways, where passengers can simply walk from the terminal to the aircraft without a passenger bus. Gates can be customised to walk-in gates, and after activating a walk-in gate passengers will walk to or from the terminal. The path near the terminal will be indicated with stanchions, and passengers will follow a path around the airplane traffic cones as to not get too close to the plane or clip with it. Furthermore, a new variable that can be used by third party scenery developers allows for time-specific events such as opening terminal doors to let passengers through. The feature integrates nicely with GSX’s airport walkers functionality, which enables animated passengers walking around the terminal.
FSDreamTeam has updated their Basel scenery to utilise the new walk-in gates and animations. The team also released a feature video, showing off the new integrations and functionalities as well as how to create these walk-in gates. Walk-in gates are a free update, provided you have GSX Level 2. The update can be obtained by running the Couatl Live updater.
