Scenery developer Grand Island Sim has today announced that they are working on both St Johns Airport and also Zanzibar Airport. The blog post on the developer’s website confirmed that whilst it has been quiet since the release of Banjul Airport, they have been working hard on creating some new content for the simulator.
First on the blog post was the confirmation of the team working on St Johns Airport (CYYT). Although the airport itself is going through a major expansion, this hasn’t stopped Grand Island Sim from trying to recreate the airport in the sim. Based on plans, the team hope to create an airport which will mimic the final design come 2020. The scenery will include all of the features you would expect from a modern release including PBR, SODE and seasonal variations.
The aim is to try and release St Johns by the end of the year for Prepar3D V4. An X-Plane version will follow a few months on.
Grand Island Sim also announced that they are working on a new African scenery. This time, it will be Zanzibar (HTZA). Described as a “small Tanzanian territory” laying off the east African coast, Abeid Amani Karume airport serves a range of African airports, as well as many in the Middle-East.
Work has started on some 3D modelling, but the majority of the work won’t begin until St Johns is out in the open.
