Got Friends posted new previews of its piston-powered taildragger coming to Microsoft Flight Simulator, the Taylorcraft BC-12D.
The post started out by acknowledging that the Taylorcraft has not been the developers’ only focus since the project started in January 2025. Over the course of the last year and a half, Got Friends released the AS 33 Me and Aeroprakt A-32 Vixxen while continuously working on the Taylorcraft BC-12D.
For Got Friends, the BC-12D is a “love letter” to MSFS 2020, since it’s the final aircraft the developer will be releasing for the platform before moving fully over to MSFS 2024. With that said, the Taylorcraft will release on day one as both a MSFS 2020 Legacy Aircraft and a MSFS 2024 Native Aircraft, including all of the expected enhancements that 2024 has to offer.
Got Friends Taylorcraft BC-12D Launch Details
The developer plans to release the Taylorcraft BC-12D on Friday, 31st July 2026. Initially, it will be available for both PC and XBOX Series X/S, with a release also planned on the PlayStation 5 Marketplace.
It will be available exclusively on the MSFS Marketplace, Contrail, and Got Friends’ own website. The release will be synchronized across all 3 platforms, which means the official release date may shift slightly depending on the MSFS Marketplace ingestion process.
On the Got Friends Website and Contrail 1 purchase will include both the MSFS 2020 and MSFS 2024-Native variants of the Taylorcraft.
On the MSFS Marketplace pilots will have the ability to purchase an MSFS 2020 version with a free upgrade to the MSFS 2024-Native version, or purchase only an MSFS 2024-Native version.
