Got Friends Announces AS33Me Glider for MSFS

Got Friends are well known for their light aircraft, helicopters, and alternative modes of travel such as the Paddle Wheeler, Astro One, and canoe for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020. Got Friends were named as a MSFS partner this year and has contributed to default aircraft in the release of MSFS 2024 including the Draco X.

Aside from contributing to the default aircraft, Got Friends has continued to develop their own 3rd party aircraft and their latest addition is the creation of the German built, Schleicher AS33 Me, a self-launching glider which has a wingspan of 18 metres to optimise airflow around the wing and fuselage transition and the wingtips. The AS33 is based upon the older ASG29 which has been in production since 2006 and can also can be equipped with a SOLO 2350 engine, providing just 18 horsepower, meaning it is capable of extending glide whilst in flight but unable to launch under its own power due to the size and weight of the engine. The newer AS33 Me has three-tier air-brakes, retractable landing gear and is powered by a more sustainable electric engine which is capable of self-launching and provides a cost effective way to launch and cruise when compared to its predecessor. Other options for the AS33 include traditional no engine and the SOLO 2350 combustion engine where self-launching is not possible.

Got Friends has promised to recreate the AS33 and harness the full potential of MSFS 2020 and 2024 being designed to deliver ‘unparalleled realism and immersion’ and to be the ‘finest glider to date’. Very little information has been provided to date but it is confirmed that the team will be producing the electrically powered AS33 Me version with aerodynamic precision and utilising the real world’s modern cockpit to help virtual pilots fly an accurate version of the type within both MSFS2020 and 2024.

Got Friends did comment that they expect the AS33 Me to be released to virtual soarers in early 2025 so there is not much longer to wait. If there are any further updates between now and the release, FSElite with be sure to keep you informed.
