In a Facebook post, Golden Age Simulations announced it will cease operations on June 30, 2025. Since 2006, the developer has been creating vintage aircraft for flight sim, starting with FSX and Prepar3D, and more recently, Microsoft Flight Simulator (MSFS) 2020 and 2024. Golden Age Simulations’ dedication to accuracy and detail gained a loyal following among simmers seeking a different kind of flying experience – one with roaring radial engines and the sound of the wind whistling through flying wires.

Golden Age Simulations’ most recent release, the Super Stearman for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and 2024, was popular for its detailed modeling and unique feature set, including three variants of the aircraft, and the ability to toggle a wing-walker. But the developer’s creations date back to a host of vintage aircraft for FSX and P3D, the sales for all of which will cease after June 30.

While the exact reasons for the shutdown were not detailed, the challenges of small-scale development in the rapidly evolving flight sim landscape are well-known. As Golden Age Simulations winds down, the developer has assured customers that direct purchasers from their website, as well as direct-access downloads from Just Flight, SimMarket, and the MS Marketplace, will continue to be supported, but limited to previously purchased aircraft.

As of June 30, sales of all of Golden Age Simulations’ add-ons will cease via third-party channels and Golden Age Simulations’ website. However, the legacy of Golden Age Simulations will live on in the digital hangars of those who enjoyed their contributions to flight simulation for years to come. If you want to continue the developer’s legacy, you can visit Golden Age Simulations’ website and pick up your favorites before June 30.
