Some new previews for Orbx’s Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (KATL) were shown off last week in the Orbx forums. Alongside the new previews, we got some new details surrounding the airport product itself, including an estimated release window.
First, starting with the previews, we can see the ‘Fly Delta Jets’ area of the airport. Matteo Veneziani, who is known for his Sacramento (KSMF), Burbank Hollywood (KBUR) and Olbia airports (LEIO), is taking on this challenging airport and is working to ensure that as many details as possible are included with the product.

As for the new details, Matteo told us that he has created this whole area in true 1:1 accuracy. Each pip, air-conditioning unit, rooftop detail and more has been faithfully recreated. This isn’t guesswork; this is all based on real-world data and imagery to recreate Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta Airport as realistically as possible.
In terms of timelines, there is a “lot of work left”, but Matteo is beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel. There are no airside images just yet as the ground poly is missing, but he says that it will come soon. As for a release, he is hoping to have it out before Christmas, which marks nearly 2 years of development on the airport. There is still work to do on the cargo buildings, taxiway signage, approach lighting and other finishing touches.
We’ll be sure to keep you posted on updates.
nearly two years of development. It’s still a bit of a way off, but my focus is, and will remain 100% on quality.
