FSLabs Updates A321neo, Adds Pratt & Whitney Engines in Free Update

Flight Sim Labs has updated its A321neo aircraft and also added the Pratt & Whitney engine type as a free update for all customers.

The update introduces support for the PW1000G-series geared turbofan engines, giving virtual pilots access to the second real-world engine option available on Airbus’ neo family. Until now, the A321neo shipped exclusively with CFM LEAP variants, so this release brings the package closer to the diversity seen across airline fleets today.

Rather than being treated as a separate product, the Pratt & Whitney engines arrive as a free expansion for existing A321neo owners. Flight Sim Labs says the rollout is being handled via its Control Centre for those on the ‘experimental’ channel, allowing users to download the new engine models directly and begin flying with them straight away.

The PW variant brings its own performance characteristics and behaviour. Flight Sim Labs has implemented bespoke engine logic designed to reflect the unique traits of the geared turbofan, including revised thrust response and operational profiles compared to the LEAP engines. The developer also highlights custom FADEC behaviour and tuning aimed at matching real-world data as closely as possible.

Sound has received attention, too, with the Pratt & Whitney engines featuring their own acoustic profile. This includes distinctive start-up behaviour and in-flight ambience that differ from the existing CFM option, helping to further separate the experience depending on which powerplant you choose.

The update is also extremely extensive, with refinements to the FMS, new enhanced route editing and navigation management, and also introducing full Grid MORE (minimumoff-route altitude) functionality. The cabin has also seen a massive overhaul, which comes with high-resolution textures, accurate cabins for both the A321 N and the NX. According to FSLabs, it comes with enhanced reading lights, integrated in-flight entertainment screens, and functional passenger signs.

Other improvements include platform stability, EFB improvements, and improved ground handling. There is also a brand new redesigned wing flex system. FSLabs say this combines custom animations, real-time algorithms, and responds dynamically to weight, fuel, airspeed, turbulence and atmospheric conditions.

As previously mentioned, this update can be downloaded via the FSlabs Operations Center if you’re on the ‘experimental’ build. It will come out to the official channel in a few days, according to CEO Lefteris. If you don’t own the FSLabs A321neo, you can buy it from their store for $69.95 (excluding VAT).
