In early April, FSimStudios announced they were getting close to releasing their Calgary International Airport scenery for MSFS, and that day has finally come.
Calgary International Airport (CYYC/YYC) is located about 11 miles away from downtown Calgary and is the fourth busiest airport in Canada. The airport serves as a hub for WestJet Airlines, which is headquartered in the city, and Lynx Air, and as a focus city for Air Canada and Flair Airlines. In the last decade, the airport has experienced several exciting changes, including opening a new air traffic control tower, runway, and international terminal. As a result, Calgary now holds the title of having the longest runway in Canada and the tallest control tower in Canada.
FSimStudios’s rendition of Calgary International Airport is designed to immerse flight simmers into the airport and city of Calgary. The airport features high-resolution textures, realistic night lighting, and modeling of all the terminal interiors and Calgary Tower, with more downtown buildings to come. FSimStudios has also included a GSX profile with de-icing pads, the Stampede Fireworks Show, and a couple of other “special features” to enhance the scenery’s realism.
