The creators of the AI ATC addon FSHud for Microsoft Flight Simulator have recently taken to their YouTube channel, where a video was released showcasing some of the new features being added to the upgraded v2 update for the program.
Starting with a statement on cost, the developers reassured existing customers that the v2 update would come at no additional charge to current owners of FSHud.
The first major change on display is a newly re-designed panel, which is now compatible with VR headsets. Users can also elect to run the FSHud panel from a separate monitor, PC, or third-party peripheral device such as an iPad. A button on the new menu allows users to quickly and easily transfer from the ATC transcript to their taxi map.
Additionally, once a taxi clearance has been received, the user’s taxi route will now be highlighted on the FSHud map with a green line – especially useful at unfamiliar airports.
The update also now brings AI ATC voices to the product. The developers say that they have imported approximately 100 voices with regional accents, a marked improvement to the immersion factor that FSHud brings to the sim given that ATC instructions were previously only relayed to the user in text. In the video, voices with British, Italian, German and Spanish accents were showcased.
The final major addition coming with v2 is a means of tuning the performance of the application to your system’s specification, ensuring the program takes a minimal bite out of your frame rate without compromising on the features you need.
No indication of when the update is coming was made during the update. For more information when it becomes available, be sure to regularly check back on FSElite.
