FSHud – Air Traffic Control has rolled out a major new feature to beta users: the Airport Configuration Manager, designed to give you more control over runway usage and airport flow logic.
This first phase of the feature allows users to define active runways, tailor runway activation rules, and even mimic real-world airport procedures. Using data such as wind conditions, time-of-day, and runway compatibility, FSHud can now automatically choose the most appropriate runway configuration.
Each runway can be customised with:
- Preferred operating hours
- Crosswind and tailwind limits
- Takeoff vs. landing availability
- Non-compatible runway relationships
- Automatic or manual activation modes
Beyond runways, this beta also begins introducing finer airport-level realism controls. Parking stands and gates can now be adjusted to better reflect airline compatibility and stand size, helping ensure aircraft are routed to appropriate parking spots based on operator and aircraft category — a key element for airports with strict terminal allocations.
FSHud has also added early common airport behaviour rules, giving users the ability to define operational logic such as switching to tower when crossing an active runway or using lineup-and-wait when approaching the threshold. These settings help refine frequency handling and ground flow logic to match real-world procedures more closely.
Users can preview their changes in-sim using the Configuration Test tool, which shows how runway assignments react based on current or user-defined weather and time settings. This makes it straightforward to replicate real-world procedures. The video above shows this off.
The update also introduces configuration import/export support, allowing runway profiles to be backed up or shared with the community for a more consistent and realistic ATC environment worldwide. This is a beta and is expected to continue to be improved upon over time.
FSHud’s Airport Configuration Manager is available now as part of the latest beta build for existing owners. It’s currently on sale for €24.99 on the FSHud website.
