Earlier this month, we had announced on behalf of LatinVFR that they would be bringing PBR texturing to their range of Prepar3D V4 scenery. The first to be converted with the new rendering technique is to be Santiago Airport (SCEL). The free update will include a complete overhaul of the airport to support the new rendering technique, and to demonstrate the new effects, LatinVFR has sent us some side-by-side comparisons of before and after PBR.
The differences are striking with light reflecting off of textures accurately and a sense of more natural looking textures. Obviously, the ‘yellow-ness’ is brought on by the low-lying sun on the background over the mountains.

We don’t have a release date but have been informed it will soon be sent to the beta team for testing before a public release.
It’s worth mentioning that this will be a free update when it is ready, as well as all other P3Dv4 releases from LatinVFR. If you want to, you can already purchase a copy of the product from SimMarket for €22.00. Once the update has been released, we will endeavour to let you know.
