During FlightSimCon, myself and Jordan got the chance to talk to Stefan, the C.E.O of PILOT’S!. He was able to talk to us about the aircraft, how it will be one of the most unique aircraft created for the sim and showed us a glimpse into the detail that will be available. Since then, we’ve acquired some new shots showing off the external model and the detail it will be delivered with.
Originally, PILOT’S! developed the aircraft for FS9, but this new version will bring a whole range of features. There will be new and enhanced flight physics, brand new animations and an incredible detailed 3D model – including the interior. Furthermore, fans of FSFX Packages will be pleased to hear they will be handling the special effects of the aircraft and will come included with the aircraft. Although no exact dates were given, we can expect it later this year for FSX and P3D V4. We presume other versions of P3D will be included, but so far we don’t have that information.
The aircraft has a pretty interesting history. It is described as a “long range flying boat” and was used in the 1940s to do transoceanic routes in style. With a maximum speed of around 210mph, it took 19 hours to fly from San Francisco to Honolulu – a journey that now takes less than 7 hours.
I for one will be interested to see who takes the Boeing 314 Clipper for Vatsim’s Bi-annual Cross the Pond event!
In addition to this, we also have some other exclusive PILOT’S! news – this time about some upcoming scenery.
