FSDreamTeam has released a stunning video showcasing the upcoming Chicago O’Hare (KORD) v2 update! In the video they display a number of interesting new features, as well as the updated terminal buildings. One of the notable features that they show off in the video are the info panels at the gate. These will display realtime info on your weather, gate coordinates and departure and destination ETD loaded from your flight plan. The latter will work for both AI and the user aircraft. The displays will also work together with GSX and display your GSX status. Another very interesting looking feature is the highly detailed jetways that will come in multiple variations, using DirectX 11 for certain rendering features to optimise FPS.
KORD v2 is entirely remade for Prepar3D v4, and will use some cool new technologies such as PDK Render to Texture, DirectX 11 DirectWrite Text, PBR-like materials and multiple UV channels. Because of these new technologies, FSDT claims there will be no impact on FPS with all these cool new features they are showcasing.
Chicago O’Hare will be released in 2018 to Prepar3D v4 users exclusively. Pricing is not yet know, but there will be a reduced upgrade price for existing users of the airport.
That was not the only news FSDreamTeam had to share with us today though. In a single comment on Facebook, they also announced a major update will be coming to GSX, their popular ground handling and pushback add-on. What’s going to be included in this update is yet unknown, but it will be announced at FSExpo.
