Over the past months, FDSG has shared on the FSDevelopers forums progress shots of their upcoming Hurghada Airport (HEGN) and surroundings. The scenery is now mature and almost ready for release. While originally intended for P3D, the developer also confirmed on the forums that the scenery would also be ported to Microsoft Flight Simulator. The scenery features an accurate representation of the airport with high definition ground textures, detailed modeling making use of PBR materials and dynamic lighting. The airport will also feature SODE jetways and VDGS. Most touristic resorts will also be modeled with day and night textures. The overall scenery will sit on a photoreal ground polygon that will blend with the default scenery on the edges.
Hurghada is an important touristic destination of the Red Sea coast in Egypt. It is very popular among European and Russians, who even have their own schools and a Consulate there. The airport itself saw 6 million passengers in 2015, one year after it was completely rebuilt.
Note that some of the following screenshots have been taken during various stages of development and the scenery might have evolved in between.
The scenery is due out soon, make sure to stay tuned on FSElite for the release information when the time comes.
