FS2Crew has started the new year with the release of RAAS Professional for Microsoft Flight Simulator. RAAS Professional (Runway Awareness and Advisory System) models the aural ‘Smart Landing’ and ‘Smart Runway’ calls included in the real-world Honeywell RAAS unit.
Many real-world aircraft have this module installed into the aircraft to help improve aviation safety. The guidance software will call out which runway you’re approaching and more. The aural alerts will be announced during taxi, takeoff, final approach and landing/roll-out operations.
You can configure the tool in your simulator and will work with any aircraft you wish to use it with. You have full control over your aircraft’s specific needs or if your virtual airline has any specific requirement for it to work with a particular aircraft. Furthermore, you can then save these configurations on a per-aircraft basis.
RAAS Professional does have a current limitation in that is unable to read runway data from airports that is ‘encrypted’ and not readable by third party add-ons. According to FS2Crew’s website, “this typically applies to payware Marketplace airports and Premium/Deluxe MSFS airports.” They are working on work-around for this issue.
You can buy FS2Crew RAAS Professional for MSFS from their store for €19.99.
