FS2Crew is a popular tool among simmers as it helps to simulate the mulit-crew environment that happens in the real world. Over the years, the FS2Crew team have released various products for a variety of aircraft, including the PMDG 747 Queen of the Skies II. The team has released a free update which enables the 747-8 to also be compatible – despite a few caveats.
Version 1.3 brings support for the -8 model, but there’s two important things to note:
1 – The FSX version is not supported. This is due to a panel window limit. The team advise everyone jumps to Prepar3D V4 due to the 64-bit environment.
2 – Due to the SDK, legal and also technical limitations, the FS2Crew FO cannot interface with the ECL (Electronic Checklist System).
If you’re keen to add FS2Crew to your 747-8, then you’ll need to download the full installer again (there’s no update installer) and re-run it. YOu will then need to run the FS2Crew PMDG 747 QOTS II config manager and re-enable FS2Crew. This will then add the correct entries to the panel.cfg file. There is no need to uninstall the original product.
There has also been a few other fixes as well including Anti-Ice callouts fixed and some other minor bug fixes.
To download the update, log into your account and download it. If you are yet to buy the product, you can do so by heading to FS2Crew’s site. It costs a total of 44.95 Euro.
